The Proverbs 31 Woman Was a Business Owner

When most people think of Proverbs 31, they picture a quiet woman in the background — supportive, gentle, unseen.

But when I read Proverbs 31, I see something else entirely.

I see a woman who worked.
I see a woman who created.
I see a woman who made business decisions.
I see a woman who built.

“She considers a field and buys it.”
“She perceives that her merchandise is good.”
“She makes linen garments and sells them.”

That is not passive.
That is entrepreneurial.

As a 56-year-old woman building Balloon Jubilee, this passage speaks to me in a new way.

For over 25 years, I owned a cleaning business. I served families, created peaceful homes, and poured myself into that season. When my body could no longer sustain that work, I prayed for direction.

Balloon Jubilee wasn’t a random idea.
It was obedience in a new season.

And Colossians 3:23 became my anchor:

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for man.”

That verse guides how I design.
How I price.
How I show up.
How I serve.

The Proverbs 31 woman was not frantic. She was diligent.
She was not hustling for applause. She was stewarding what God placed in her hands.

That changes everything.

I don’t build this business out of panic.
I build it out of purpose.

And if you are a woman building something — whether it’s a business, a ministry, a new chapter after loss, or a dream that’s been sitting quietly for years — hear me:

You are not too late.

God does not retire His daughters.

There is no expiration date on obedience.

You are allowed to begin again.
You are allowed to grow in your 40s, 50s, 60s.
You are allowed to answer a new calling.

Building something with excellence is not selfish.
It is stewardship.

If He has placed creativity, leadership, service, or vision in you, then using it honors Him.

Balloon Jubilee is more than décor to me.
It is proof that God can open a new door in any season.

And if He did it for me, He can do it for you.

Keep going.
Keep trusting.
Keep building.

There is no expiration date on obedience.

And if Balloon Jubilee has taught me anything, it’s this:

When we step forward in faith, even later in life, God meets us there.
